| International Events / 2009 European Championships
DAY 1 / 16 October/ JOUR 1 /16 Octobre TIME The European Championship event is about to start its inaugural year and it’s now time to let everyone know the schedule of events that will be part of the festival and also the competition schedule. It should be noted, planning for this event has been very difficult and I would like to acknowledge the support provided by Mr. Michael Rafflesberger assisting the IFBA to the bitter end, to ensure the visiting teams and local players enjoy the hospitality the community of Telfs will be providing during the three day event. Coaching Clinic Friday October 16 0800 hrs The Clinic will be conducted by IFBA VP-Tech Mr. Conrad Morneau and assisted by IFBA VP-Ops Mr. Marc Desparios. Those registered for this clinic are to meet at the ice arena in Telfs to sign in at 0800 hrs. The clinic will start at 0830 hrs and stop at 1500 hrs. Conrad said he will give everyone a break for lunch. Team Registration Friday October 16 1530 hrs The coaches must verify all team members and sweater numbers at the registration that were submitted online (www.internationalbroomball.com). This is to complete the stats program for the event and to ensure the correct identification of players. This is very important for the statistics of the event and to ensure the players are properly identified when the results are posted on the Internet. Coaches Briefing Friday October 16 1630 Hrs The VP-Tech will review any issues with the coaches at this time relating to the rules of the game and schedules. The first game will be starting at 1700 hrs so it is important to keep any questions simple for fast answers. Opening Ceremonies Friday October 16 1900 hrs The Opening Ceremonies will take place on the ice at the arena. Teams are requested to wear their team colors (sweaters) and meet at the designated area (the Coaches will know where the area is at the Coaches Briefing). This will be a short ceremony but a very special one with local dignitaries’ welcoming the visiting teams and much media attention as well. This event will be advertised locally so we should have good spectator representation in the stands. It is important that all players and officials attend this event to show our appreciation to the City of Telfs and those who have spent much time to prepare the event for the players. Playing Schedule Friday October 16, 17 & 18 The playing schedule times were changed to make arrangements for the on ice activities on Friday evening. This was unavoidable. Please understand this event is new to everyone and consequently there were issues to resolve which took until October 1 to correct. The IFBA is confident the template for this event is now set and future European Championships will not take as long to organize. I would like to thank all associations for their patience and also the huge contribution from all the teams to make this event happen. I must again thank all those in Telfs for helping to make this event possible. Award Presentations Sunday October 18 All awards will be presented on ice after the final game by local dignitaries. The schedule was cut back to allow for teams traveling great distances more time to return home. If you stay and enjoy a nice lager….please be smart and have a designated driver to take you to your final destination. Copyright © by 2010 by IFBA All Right Reserved.
